Are you seriously considering moving to Delray Beach but you’re just not sure where to start looking? In this episode of The Bottom Line, I’m going to help you sort through the east and west sides of Delray Beach. I’ll explain the similarities and differences so you can choose the area that fits you best.
East Delray Beach
One of the big questions that we get from people that are considering moving to Delray Beach is where to begin. Do I want to be on the east side or the west side? There’s a significant difference between these two locations, and we’ll start with East Delray Beach first.
Military Trail runs north and south and it’s the main road that goes through Delray Beach. Anything east of that is where I’m referring to when I say “East Delray Beach.” This area is kind of old Florida, meaning it’s where you’re going to find a lot of established communities and fewer HOAs. It’s also where you’re going to find all the action, and you can easily visit the best restaurants and art galleries.
One of my favorite things about living in East Delray Beach is that you’re never far from anywhere. The type of person that would want to live in East Delray Beach is somebody who is looking for a boating community, wants to be near the water, likes the downtown lifestyle, and is looking to be able to walk to the art district.
West Delray Beach
West Delray Beach is on the west side of Military Trail. Here you’ll find more golf communities, more nature preserves, and more land. You’re also going to find that you get more house for your money. You will typically have an HOA that has more amenities, but the trade-off is that you’re 15 to 20 minutes from the beach. You’re also not going to able to walk downtown to a restaurant. Things are just a bit further away.
However, you’re also going to have newer things. Your homeowner’s insurance is likely to be lessened because you have newer building restrictions. You are also further away from the water, so that would impact insurance significantly.
Enjoy Florida Living In Delray Beach
I hope this helped you understand the differences between both areas of Delray Beach. If you’re looking for more of a suburbia-type feel, are a golfer, and want peace and quitter, you’re going to want to find a house on the west side. if you’re looking for more activities, want to be around people, are a boater, want fewer HOA restrictions, and enjoy being in the middle of things, you’re going to go on the east side.
